‘Abdul-Basit ‘Abdus-Samad (Arabic: عبـدُ الباسِـط مُحـمّـد عبـدُ ٱلصّـمـد), or Abdel Basit Abdel Samad, or Abdul Basit Muhammad Abdus Samad (1927 – 30 November 1988) was an EgyptianQuran reciter and Hafiz.[3] He is part of a quadrumvirate, along with Siddiq Al-Minshawi, Mustafa Ismail, and Al-Hussary, which are considered to be the most important and famous Qurra of modern times to have an outsized impact on the Islamic World.[1][4][5][6][7][8][9] He was the first president of the Reciter's union in Egypt. He is known by the title "Golden Throat" and "Voice of Heaven" due to his melodious style, breath control, and unique emotional and engaging tone.
Early life
Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad was born in 1927 to an Saīdi Upper Egyptian[10] family, in the village of Al-Maarazeh situated in Qena Governorate, Egypt. From a very early age, he was committed with the memorization and recitation of the Quran. Abd al-Basit Abd al-Samad (1345 - 1409 AH), an Egyptian Qur’an reciter and one of the prominent figures in this field. He was called the “Voice of Mecca.” He memorized the Noble Qur’an at the hands of Sheikh Muhammad al-Amir, the sheikh of his village book, and took the readings from the hands of the master Sheikh Muhammad Salim Hamadeh.
He entered the Egyptian radio in 1951, and his first recitations were from Surat Fater. He was appointed as a reciter for the Imam Al-Shafi’i Mosque in 1952, then for the Imam Al-Hussein Mosque in 1958, succeeding Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna.
He left a wealth of recordings for the radio, in addition to recited and glorified Qur’ans, as well as recited Qur’ans of Arab and Islamic countries. He traveled around the world as a guide to the Book of God, and he was the first president of the Syndicate of Egyptian Readers in 1984.
The origin of Sheikh Abdul Basit
The reciter, Sheikh Abd al-Basit Abd al-Samad, was born in 1345 AH / 1927 AD in the village of Al-Marazah, affiliated to the Armant Center in Qena Governorate (before the Armant Center was annexed to the Luxor Governorate in 2009 with its establishment.
He grew up
